The mission of the Deptt. Of Computer Science & Engineering is to persistently strive for achieving excellence in computing disciplines. It is being pursued through its spectrum of academic programmes in computing of contemporary standards. The sustained effort is to produce computing graduates with potential to design and develop systems involving the integration of software and hardware devices; innovative approaches to programming and problem solving as well as creative ways to use computers, large scale software systems and computing infrastructure of any organization.

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was established to meet the demand for well-qualified computer professionals and conceived in the year 2009.

At present, the Department of Computer Science & Engineering has more than 100 students and 05 core faculty members apart from many visiting professors, distinguished professionals from industry, eminent researchers and teaching/ research assistants. With an aim to carve a niche for itself in Computer Science and allied domains, the School strives to:

Objectives The educational objectives for Computer Science & Engineering program are designed to produce competent engineers who are ready to contribute effectively to the advancement of Computer Science & engineering causes and to accommodate the needs of the community. These objectives are as follows:

  • Become a pioneering world-class centre of excellence in education and research through collaborative, consultative and participatory approaches
  • Nurture effective capabilities for the development of high quality technical and scientific manpower to meet the challenges of the knowledge era

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering offers 4 year undergraduate programmes leading to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak (Haryana).

The curriculum of the programme is designed to cater to the ever changing needs and demands of the IT industry. The focus is on holistic learning and empowering the students to make significant contributions at all levels. The cafeteria system of electives gives a handful of choices for students to develop expertise in their area of interest.

The Department of Computer Science & engineering has state-of-the-art infrastructure including domain-specific labs like as Red Hat, Microsoft and Oracle. With an objective of developing core competence in the respective subject matter specializations and special interest groups for learning newer technologies, the Department has formed the Society/groups to nurture the young talent in the required domain.

Labs and Computing Infrastructure

Computing Centres
The computing centre supports 180 clients across the various laboratories with an IBM XEON-X3400 server. The Laboratories are installed with Thin Client, a centrally managed tool/system for internet browsing, HCL Busy Bee (C2D) and having Wi-Fi connectivity. Wi-Max based 2Mbps Internet facilities have been provided throughout the premises. The department of Computer Science & Engineering have following laboratories: :

The Pedagogy and Learning Ambience
The Pedagogy and Learning Ambience the Departmentís pedagogy aims at preparing students to face real-world challenges using Problem-Based Learning (PBL), interactive and participative processes and constant mentoring.

The campus based learning is again enhanced by experts from foreign universities through an interactive audio-video conferencing facility. The Department maintains quality standards by constantly assessing and improving its academic resources and teaching learning processes.

The teaching aids include Multimedia LCD projectors, and smart class rooms. Campus-wide access to digital library is provided which links to International Journals and magazines such as IEEE, and e-resources like Springer Link.

The faculty and students enjoy the finest network and software services, educational technologies and resources accessible from anywhere in a disciplined framework, round- the-clock Internet access that is augmented continuously with ample freedom and facilities to execute projects and transform concepts into actions and applications.
